experienced Sportscar racer David Russell will join

The awesome Aussie foursome will contest the legendary twice-around-the-clock GT sports car race, driving a newly-built Reiter Engineering prepared Lamborghini Gallardo EXTENSO.

It is the second straight year that both David Russell and Australia’s most successful race driver have contested the world famous 24 hour event, raced at the formidable Spa-Francorchamps circuit.

“Naturally I am delighted to be returning to Spa, it’s the most amazing event on the best track ever,”enthused Craig Lowndes.

“I learned so much last yearand really wanted to go back and have another crack, and I have to thank Roger (Lago) for the opportunity.

“The driving line up isincredibly strong … David (Russell) is very fast and very experienced in these cars, as is Steve (Owen), and they both drove this event with Roger last year,so they also know the track and the event, and what to expect.

“Our Lamborghini will bebrand new, to the very latest Reiter spec, so it’ll be a weapon for sure.”

Renowned engineer John Russell will travel with the team to Belgium to head up the assault.

Roger Lago, a GT racing and Carrera Cup regular in Australia, is delighted that Lowndes is joining his assault at the Belgian event.

“Craig is of course an Australian motor racing legend, so I am over the moon that he’s accepted our offer to join the team … I think with his experience combined with that of David (Russell) and Steve (Owen), we will be very competitive,” Roger Lago said.

“We have a lot of experience with these Lamborghinis now and I have no doubt the new car will be something even better, so I am very excited … can’t wait to get there and fly the Australian flag.”

Sharing the new Lamborghini Gallardo EXTENSO with Lowndes and Lago, V8 Supercar endurance race specialists David Russell and Steve Owen are both also highly experienced in GT cars.

“The Spa 24 Hour race last year was one of my career highlights, and having tested and raced at Spa-Francorchamps last year, I couldn’t be better prepared to compete in this massive sportscar event again with Roger and Steve,” David Russell said.

“Adding Craig to the line-up is fantastic -- we have four strong Aussie drivers who all have experience at Spa and generally in endurance racing. I have no doubt that we’ll be competitive there and I am looking forward to it.”

Lowndes raced a Ferrari 458 for the AF Corsa team in the 2014 Total 24 Hours of Spa, finishing third inclass and eighth outright.

The all-Australian assault on the 2015 Total 24 Hours of Spa event will begin with the official Test Day on 24 June, where Craig, David and Steve will run the new EXTENSO racer for the very first time.
